From Your Pet's Photo to a Hand-Painted Ceramic Memorial
Every Pawcelain piece begins with a pet who was loved.
A photo, a name, a look you remember. From there, our artisans shape, paint, fire, and finish each ceramic memorial by hand in Jingdezhen, China — a city known for porcelain for more than a thousand years.
We do not make fast, mass-produced memorials. Each piece is made to order, created for one specific pet and one specific family.
The Place
Jingdezhen has long been known as the heart of Chinese porcelain. For generations, artisans here have shaped clay, painted by hand, and fired porcelain at high temperatures to create pieces meant to last.
We chose Jingdezhen because a pet memorial should feel different from an ordinary product. It should carry weight, warmth, and permanence. It should be something you can hold, keep, and return to when words are not enough.
Every Pawcelain memorial is created through this ceramic tradition, with patience, skill, and human attention.
The People
Behind each piece are experienced ceramic artisans.
Some shape the clay. Some refine the form. Some specialize in hand-painting portraits. Others prepare the glaze, control the firing, and inspect the final piece before it leaves the studio.
Many of our artisans have spent decades working with porcelain. They understand that a memorial is not just about technique. It is about noticing the small things — the angle of an ear, the softness of the eyes, the markings that made your pet unmistakably yours.
This is why we do not treat your pet's photo as decoration. We treat it as a story.
The Process
Your custom memorial begins with the photo and details you provide.
After your order is placed, we review your pet's photo, name, size needs, and any special requests. Then the ceramic form is shaped, dried, refined, and prepared for the first firing.
Once the base piece is ready, the portrait and decorative details are painted by hand. Before the final firing, we provide a preview whenever applicable, so you can review the artwork before it becomes permanent.
The piece is then fired at high temperature, finished, inspected, and carefully packed for international delivery.
Most custom pieces take about 15–20 days to create before shipping. We do not rush this process, because every memorial is made for a life that mattered.
72 Steps, 1280°C, One Story
A Pawcelain piece may pass through many hands and many stages before it is complete.
Clay preparation. Shaping. Drying. Trimming. First firing. Sanding. Hand-painting. Glazing. Final firing. Inspection. Packing.
In total, each piece may go through up to 72 steps and a high-temperature firing of around 1280°C.
These details matter because porcelain is not simply printed or assembled. It is transformed by fire. Once finished, the image, the form, and the memory become part of something lasting.
The Promise
We know this is not an ordinary purchase.
For many families, a Pawcelain memorial is created during a time of grief, love, and remembrance. That is why we handle every order with care, patience, and respect.
Each piece is made to order. Each portrait is created from your pet's photo. Each memorial is carefully reviewed before it is packed.
If a piece arrives damaged, we will help remake it. If we need more information to better capture your pet, we will contact you before moving forward.
Our goal is not to make every memorial look the same. Our goal is to make yours feel true.
Made Slowly, Made Personally
No shortcuts.
No mass-made memorials.
No two stories treated the same.
Just clay, fire, hands, time — and the name you still carry in your heart.
