Description

A Dog Portrait Cremation Urn Focused on Recognition

For many families, recognition begins with the face: the tilt of the ears, the shape of the muzzle, the eye color, or the markings that made one glance unmistakable.

This dog portrait cremation urn is painted by hand in Jingdezhen from your photographs. The artist studies the facial structure and expression first, then adds the coat and personal details that support recognition without crowding the portrait.

You receive a preview and one complimentary revision before final firing. The finished piece provides a lidded ceramic place for ashes kept in their sealed inner bag or for small dry keepsakes.

What Is Included

  • One handmade ceramic dog memorial urn in the selected size, portrait style, and painted-detail option;
  • A portrait hand-painted from the photographs supplied with the order;
  • Optional name, dates, short message, or concise design notes;
  • One artwork preview before final glazing and firing;
  • One complimentary revision opportunity before final firing;
  • Final inspection, layered protective packaging, and tracking after dispatch.

Frames, flowers, candles, books, cremated remains, and other styling props shown in photographs are not included.

Product Highlights

  • Face-first portrait process from customer photographs.
  • Open-eye or closed-eye expression choices.
  • Attention to muzzle, ears, eye color, mask, and facial markings.
  • 600 ml, 800 ml, and 1100 ml capacities.
  • Optional name, dates, message, or painted detail.
  • One preview and one complimentary revision before firing.
  • Waterproof ceramic body; not airtight.
  • Hand-painted and kiln-fired in Jingdezhen.

Personalization: Make the Memorial Recognizably Theirs

Choose the portrait expression first, then identify the photograph that best shows the face. Accessories should remain secondary to the eyes, muzzle, ears, and markings.

Portrait Style

  • Closed Eyes: a calm resting expression and the base style;
  • Open Eyes: painted from the eye shape and color visible in the reference photographs.

Use the current product selector for the exact price difference. Do not state a price in body copy unless it matches every live variant.

Optional Hand-Painted Detail

Current standardized choices on the five newer dog-urn pages are None, National Flag, Clothing / Outfit, Bow Tie, Scarf, and Other Details. These are painted ceramic elements, not removable accessories. The flagship PS-07 live selector currently differs and must be reconciled before its standard is implemented.

Contact support@pawcelain.com before ordering a complex idea so feasibility can be confirmed.

Name, Dates, and Wording

Add a name, meaningful dates, a short message, or concise design notes. Enter spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and dates exactly as they should appear. Pawcelain should confirm unclear or conflicting instructions instead of guessing.

Photographs

For Open Eyes, use a sharp image that shows true eye color and pupil direction. For Closed Eyes, provide a relaxed photograph showing the natural brow, ears, and muzzle rather than asking the artist to invent the expression.

Recommended upload structure:

  1. Main Portrait Photo - required: controls face, expression, and primary angle;
  2. Detail Photo - optional: confirms markings, eye color, collar, accessory, or another small feature;
  3. Additional Angle - optional: confirms head shape, coat transitions, ears, chest, or body color.

Handmade Ceramic Craftsmanship in Jingdezhen

Jingdezhen has been associated with porcelain-making for more than a thousand years. Pawcelain uses this ceramic tradition because a memorial should carry the patience, weight, and visible attention of something made by hand.

Each urn may pass through up to 72 making steps, including clay preparation, shaping, drying, trimming, first firing, sanding, portrait painting, glazing, final firing, inspection, and packing. Ceramic pigments are painted onto the prepared form. After preview approval, the piece is glazed and fired at around 1280 C so the artwork becomes part of the finished ceramic surface rather than a sticker or printed transfer.

Small variations in brushwork, glaze, surface, color, and form are natural signs of handmade work. They make each memorial one of a kind; they do not replace Pawcelain's responsibility to follow the approved portrait direction, wording, selected options, and quality standard.

Size and Capacity

Size Dimensions Approx. capacity Urn weight General pet-weight guidance
S 4 in W x 7 in H / 10.2 x 17.8 cm 600 ml 0.6 kg Up to 30 lb / 13.6 kg
M 4.4 in W x 7.8 in H / 11.2 x 19.8 cm 800 ml 0.8 kg Up to 60 lb / 27.2 kg
L 4.8 in W x 8.6 in H / 12.2 x 21.8 cm 1100 ml 1.0 kg Up to 110 lb / 50 kg

Capacity in milliliters is the primary specification. Pet-weight ranges are general guidance, not an absolute guarantee, because cremains volume and packaging vary. Ask the crematory for the dimensions of the returned sealed inner bag and choose a vessel with comfortable extra room.

Care Instructions

  • Keep the urn indoors on a stable, level surface away from edges and high-traffic areas;
  • Lift from the body or base, not the lid, ears, or painted details;
  • Dust with a soft dry cloth; if needed, use a slightly damp soft cloth and dry promptly;
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, bleach, or harsh chemicals;
  • Do not place in a dishwasher, microwave, oven, freezer, or direct flame;
  • Avoid soaking the lid or exposing the ceramic to sudden temperature changes;
  • Keep ashes in their sealed inner bag because the urn is not airtight;
  • Wrap lid and body separately if the urn must be moved.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose an open-eye or closed-eye portrait?

Choose the expression that feels most familiar. Open Eyes works best with a sharp photograph showing eye shape, color, and surrounding markings. Closed Eyes creates a calm resting expression and should still be supported by a clear face reference.

What photographs create the strongest dog portrait?

Use one sharp front or three-quarter face photograph in natural light. Add supporting images for true coat color, ears, chest markings, or a familiar expression. State which image controls expression and which image has the truest color.

What if my best expression photo does not show the full coat?

Use it as the main portrait reference and upload another photograph for coat color and markings. Tell Pawcelain which photograph controls each feature so the artist does not have to guess between conflicting images.

Can you work from an old or low-resolution photograph?

Upload the clearest original available and add supporting images or written notes. Older photographs can still be meaningful references, but the artist will contact you if an essential feature cannot be read clearly enough to paint responsibly.

How accurate will the handmade portrait be?

The artist studies face shape, expression, ears, muzzle, eye color, coat, and markings. The result is a handmade ceramic interpretation rather than a printed duplicate. One preview and one complimentary revision are included before final firing.

How do I choose the right capacity for my dog's ashes?

Use capacity in milliliters as the primary guide: S approximately 600 ml, M approximately 800 ml, and L approximately 1100 ml. Confirm the dimensions of the crematory's sealed inner bag and leave comfortable extra room. Pet weight is only general guidance.

Can I add a name, dates, or a painted accessory?

Yes. Add concise wording or select an available scarf, bow tie, outfit, flag, or other approved detail. Enter spelling and dates exactly as they should appear and identify placement if it matters.

Is the dog portrait cremation urn airtight?

No. The high-fired ceramic body is waterproof, but the lidded urn is not completely airtight, vacuum sealed, or hermetically sealed. Keep ashes inside the sealed inner bag supplied by the crematory.

How long does production take?

Custom production is approximately 15-20 business days before shipping. A requested revision may add about 3-5 business days. Carrier transit time begins after final inspection and dispatch.

What happens if the urn arrives damaged?

Contact support@pawcelain.com within 48 hours of delivery with the order number and clear photographs of the item, inner packaging, and outer package. Keep all packaging while the case is reviewed.
